This is the life

We're having some glorious weather, well it is summer after all and having some nice shady areas in our small garden we've sat outside to have lunch these past couple of days and then stayed outside and spent the afternoon in the sunshine relaxing, me with my puzzle book and hubby reading a novel. There's been just one small problem and that's Tilly, she always decides to choose the best seat for herself :) I had thought about getting Tilly's paddling pool out for her but with the UK being hit by water shortages it just doesn't seem right.

I've thought hard about putting this on my blog but I've been saddened recently to have lost a blogging friend. A couple of months ago when I was feeling quite low and there was a medical reason for that, this person thought she could criticise my lifestyle as being mundane as we never go anywhere and wondered if my get up and go had gone or I just couldn't be bothered.  This person also wonders what we do all day but at the same time she didn't want me to know she was telling tales behind my back.

Absolutely no empathy at all, she's not the person I thought she was and I don't need people like that in my life. So you know who you are, while you're busy working I'm enjoying the sunshine with my hubby and my little dog. This is the life.

  1. I have often thought that dogs are regularly more clever than people and once again Tilly prove me right :-)

You go out and about far more than I do - if anyone could be accused of having a mundane and boring life then it is me. As long as you can find time to fit in the occasional blog post and email. 🤪 🤪

It has been too hot to take my little van anywhere this week but in between maintaining the house & garden I have fitted in two matches, an intensive coaching session, and my sewing group (hmm, perhaps I am not so mundane after all!) Just waiting for the windowcleaner to leave so I can put my chair in a lovely shady spot which catches the breeze and then it's my book until supper time. xx

    1. Tilly knows how to get to the best seats first and as daft as we are we don't like to turf her off :) It's been so nice to have a quiet couple of days sat doing nothing, in between appointments and visiting family and walking Tilly. Isn't retirement great and living where we do, we really appreciate it now we don't work for a living. Your life doesn't sound mundane at all to me Jayne. Have a great time reading your book in the shade in your lovely garden, nothing to beat it xx

  2. Haha, Tilly certainly knows how to live her best life. It's nice to be able to get out in the sunshine and enjoy summer, we never know how long it will last, or even if we'll get a proper summer in this country. It's sad when people turn out to be not who we thought they were. Don't let them get you down, it's a waste of energy and emotion and no one needs that. Why people think they can criticise how someone else lives their life, well, I can only think it's because they're not very happy in their own life.

    1. Tilly certainly is enjoying life just chillin' :) This summer weather is beautiful and as long as it doesn't become extreme heat then we should get outside and enjoy it. I've been upset that someone who I have been nothing but kind and welcoming to should be so judgemental about my life. You're spot on Jo and we think the same as you, maybe they are not happy in their own life.

  3. It looks like you'll have to start racing Tilly to get the best chair!

I agree and say don't let a thoughtless comment like that get to you. I don't think there is anything mundane about anyone's life... the beauty of life is that we are all individuals and make different choices about how we decide to spend our time. I think it's a privilege to be able to share in those choices, whether they differ from my own choices or not. xx

    1. Tilly is certainly faster than us to the best seats in the garden :)
I have been extremely upset because someone i looked on as a friend has betrayed me and it hurts and as I said she's shown no empathy. Anyway, good to see you back Eileen, I missed your posts last week xx

  4. Just look at lovely Tilly. She's not daft is she. I've been feeling the same regarding the paddling pool this year. Even though there are no restrictions here, I wouldn't feel right filling it up, just wasteful.
I'm so sorry you've lost a friend. It is always sad to realise someone is not who you thought they were. Sending hugs. Xx

  5. Someone just told me that my meal looks bland, and I need some spice in my life. How rude. Comment deleted of course.

    1. That was rude you did the right thing deleting the comment. Maybe their own life is dull and not interesting enough.

  6. Amazingly its much too hot to sit out here, 30.9°C this afternoon and still 28°C now at gone 9 pm. Don't let the bloggers who criticise get to you.. life is too short.

    1. I don't think it was that hot here but we made sure we sat in the shade. I was upset because this was someone I had come to regard as a friend but now I know different.

  7. Oh, Tilly certainly knows she's a princess! :D You'll just have to get another chair, that's all! :D
I'm sorry that someone you considered to be a friend turned out to be anything but. That must hurt. I don't think you live a mundane life at all. If anyone is living a mundane life, then, it would be me! I just realized this morning that I haven't left the house in almost a week! The last time I left the house was to pick up my grocery order, last Friday! LOL! Some people need to be going places and doing stuff constantly and that is fine if that's what makes them happy. I'm perfectly happy staying home, checking on my garden and cutting pieces of fabric for a new quilt top. I think you and I have paid our dues and have earned our right to live the life we wish to live, don't you? (((HUGS)))

    1. You don't have to leave your house Bless, you keep yourself occupied and you are happy and that's important. You are right we can live our lives any way we want to and other people's opinions shouldn't matter. This person has revealed their true colours.

  8. Oh Tilly, you are one spoiled girl........! My thoughts exactly on saving water in the paddle pool & we also find water restrictions tough & have to think outside the box a lot for water saving ideas. You definitely do not lead a boring life & you are doing something when either reading, doing puzzles or even blogging. You don't post about "nothing" and I'm just a wee bit envious of my "northern" friends lifestyle at the moment, with getting out in the sunshine & not having to worry about Covid. We are all different, brought up differently, in different countries and at various stages of our lives. I often think mine is way "boring" when I read other blogs, but lets all be kind and considerate. Take care & hugs.

    1. It's only someone else's opinion that my life is mundane and perhaps their life isn't interesting enough and they like to gossip. What you say is right we should be kind and considerate to each other. I value the friends I have made in this blogging community and we have got each other through some tough times.

  9. We've also sat outside and enjoyed the summer days, Rosie has found a cool place under the table we sit at. Never question yourself or your posts, its your life and you live it as it suits. I love popping by and catching up with you and Tilly. x

    1. It's nice to sit out and enjoy the sunshine, it can be a long winter spent indoors. Dogs will always find a shady place, Tilly tucked herself underneath the chair hubby was sitting on. Thank you for saying you enjoy popping by. I've said this before, we live our lives as we see fit and other people's opinions don't really matter.

  10. Hi Eileen, just wanted to share with you that it's been 2 weeks since I last left the house! LOL! I hope all is well with you, your husband, and Tilly. Hope you are enjoying a few sunny, but not too hot, relaxed days. :)
