No meal for us today

This isn't Tilly but a lookalikey called Belle, she's eighteen months old. I chatted to her owners just as we were leaving the dog-friendly eating place with Tilly, it's a place we used to frequent with our last dog Annie who I have to say was always well behaved and would lie underneath the table while we enjoyed our meal. Oh no not Tilly.

We waited to be seated, gave in our name and phone number as per covid rules. The waiter was very kind and showed us to our seats and asked if we would like a bowl of water and a dog biscuit for Tilly. So while he went to fetch them Tilly decided she would jump onto the bench to sit next to hubby. The waiter returned and asked politely if we could keep her off the furniture at which point Tilly jumped onto the table and I was horrified. Lifting her down she promptly landed in the bowl of water tipping it up and sending water all over the floor. We apologised profusely and told the waiter we weren't able to stay and explained that Tilly was just a pup. A naughty one I might add unlike Belle who was as good as gold.

The best bit of this tale is we had set out today to find the place that's the venue for the puppy training classes in a few weeks time, they can't come soon enough for me. Now I'm worried if anybody should slip in the water all over the floor they have our name and phone number and know where to find us. Oh Tilly!

  1. Haha, dogs will be dogs. She's a little monkey but she's only a baby, she'll learn.

    1. I hope so Jo. We did ask Belle's owner if he'd like to swap dogs :)

  2. Oh heck, I would have been mortified if that was one of mine. Tilly is still only a pup though, in a strange environment and not knowing what was expected of her. Hopefully the training classes will help and she will eventually settle down and become much calmer. I doubt anyone would slip on the wet floor, if the staff were doing their job it would have been mopped up straight after you'd left and a wet floor sign put over it.

    1. It's our fault really as we let her sit beside us on the sofas at home so if we sit down she's going to want to join us. I'm sure the staff would have mopped up the water as soon as we left the place, there was rather a lot of it too.

  3. Oh Tilly indeed! Not long now until you start the classes, but I have the feeling that she is always going to be a bit on the lively side 😂

  4. I do think the Puppy Training will be good for her, though all dogs have different temperaments & take longer to learn than others. Good luck & hope you can go back to have a meal one day. Take care & hugs.

    1. She does seem quick to learn but it's a challenge trying to break the bad habits.

  5. Oh dear! But at least it was just a puddle of water she left on the floor. I wouldn't worry if I were you, I've come across children who are far worse behaved :)

    1. It was quite a big bowl full of water and Tilly tipped the dish upside down so the lot went over the floor. It was embarrassing but I won't let it worry me. It'll be a while before we take her to that place again though :)

Oh Tilly! Oops...that's pups for you. I'm sure the staff would have mopped up the water, if not then listen out for the SAS, they could be landing in your back garden any minute ;)
