Good Friday

I was rather glad the workmen were busy in our home yesterday as I didn't want to go out, not even to walk Tilly as it was the first anniversary of losing our Annie. The workmen finished the refit in the cloakroom apart from fitting a towel ring as they'd brought a towel rail by mistake and that was far too long and so that will be finished off tomorrow. Now though we have had a change of plan. We were going to paint the upper half of the walls a light grey colour but the plumber and tiler suggested the room would look nice tiled top to bottom and we agreed and it'll be a relief for us not to have to do the painting. So the tiler is going to return sometime in the next couple of weeks to do that for us and at a reasonable cost. It's only a very small room but it's looking so much nicer than it was.

Today the weather is gloriously sunny and I took Tilly a slightly longer walk now that she is getting used to walking on a lead. I took her down the path through the sand dunes as I haven't been there in over a year. Only one person passed us on the path and he stepped aside into the grass which was very good of him.

So then we walked back along the promenade but I wanted Tilly to get used to walking on the sea wall  but on a short lead for now. It's much safer for her up there as the promenade is also a cycle route and you wouldn't believe how many cyclists come whizzing past us at great speed.

Back at home Tilly is enjoying a bit of sunbathing with the back door open and in a nice sunny spot in the utility room.

Time for a sleep she thinks :)

Enjoy your Easter break whatever you choose to do.

    1. The first anniversary is tough yet we think about and talk about Annie every day as she was our heart dog. The border tiles are nice and we’re very pleased we chose them. Tilly is coming on in leaps and bounds and is quite a character. She looks cute but can be very mischievous and keeps us on our toes.

  2. Sending hugs as you remember Annie.

I do like your cloakroom tiles and having the top part tiled as well will save a lot of effort in the future.

    1. Thank you Eileen. Yes, it will be easier for us to have the whole room tiled now.

  3. Your cloakroom is looking very trendy & neat. Tilly looks content walking along the path & on the wall, and then having a wee rest on the tiles. With summer coming I can see you enjoying yourselves a lot. Take care, stay safe & hugs.

    1. We do like how the cloakroom looks and it will be even better when it's completely finished.
We are looking forward to getting out and about with Tilly and she'll enjoy herself too.

Your cloakroom looks very smart - it's so nice when decorating is under way. Tilly looks to be enjoying her walkies - I agree about cyclists whizzing past and they seem to appear from nowhere!

    1. We're pleased with the changes to the cloakroom. we should have done it ages ago.
It's dangerous walking along the promenade and the cyclists do come out of nowhere I do agree.

  5. I understand "heart dog" so well, thinking of you. xx πŸΎπŸ’šπŸΎ

Great idea to walk Tilly on the top of the wall - she is so tiny and cyclists do seem to go faster and faster, inconsiderate so-and-so's. If one of them crashed into your darling girl she could well be killed.

Cloakroom looks wonderful, most envious. xx

    1. I know you had your own heart dog and understand only too well Jayne xx
Tilly does tend to zigzag while walking but that's understandable so we need to get her some L plates :) Many of the fast cyclists dress in lycra and speed is their game. The promenade is not going to be a regular walk as it's far too dangerous for Tilly and for me for that matter.
We're pleased with the cloakroom refit and will be happy once it's completely finished.

  6. The anniversaries are very sad but I'm sure you remembered Annie with a smile too as you enjoyed so many happy times with her. The cloakroom looks very smart and I agree, having it fully tiled will save on future paint jobs. What a good idea to walk Annie along the wall, it looks wide enough. It drives me mad when cyclists come whizzing by, it's so dangerous in places where dogs are walking.

    1. It was a sorry day when they made the promenade a part of the national cycle route. It takes cyclists off the road but pedestrians have to jump out of the way as the promenade here is fairly narrow.
We do have very fond memories of our time with Annie but losing her during lockdown was tough and made our loss even harder to bear. Now we have Tilly and she will help fill that huge void that Annie left behind.

  7. Your cloakroom is looking fab, looks like a nice walk, cyclists drive me mad sometimes, especially on narrow paths

    1. Unfortunately the promenade is part of the national cycle route and it seems cyclists take priority over pedestrians. It'd be a nice walk if we weren't on high alert all the time.

  8. I'm so sorry that you felt so sad about Annie on her anniversary. It is horrible isn't it. I still feel desparately sad some days about all the dogs I have lost in my life. I wish they lived longer. I love your cloakroom. It looks so modern and uncluttered, something I'm sure I should try and do more! Tilly looks really grown up out and about and so well behaved. Happy Easter. x

    1. I've always said that our dogs don't live long enough but a friend once told me when they leave us they make room for another dog in need of love. Tilly is enjoying being out on walks and is having lots of admirers. Happy Easter to you and your family. X

  10. The cloakroom is lovely, Eileen and it looks nice and bright for a small room.
I understand what you mean about some cyclists. Often it's like they believe they're on a racing circuit. X

    1. The small room is definitely lighter and brighter now. The cyclists do speed along this stretch of the cycle route and I'm surprised no one has been hurt but it's a pleasant walk apart from that.

  11. I could just pick up Tilly and give her some loving!❤ The bathroom looks great! It's so nice to be able to enjoy being outside. It sounds like you live close to the ocean also. I'm so glad snow and ice and cold are behind us now. Happy days Catherine!

    1. We live on the coast and the beach is just a fifteen minute walk away and we do appreciate where we live. The weather warmed up and then we had another cold spell, it is so unpredictable at the moment. Tilly will have some great walks this year, I'm looking forward to it.
