First day and night

We've struck gold with young Tilly, what a good dog she is.  So yesterday she needed a bit of a bath and that happened in the kitchen sink and she adored being dried with a soft towel. The only problem with her is she needs a white stripe painting down her back so we can see where she is as she zooms around the room :) Her tail is always wagging and if she's not running around, playing with her toys then she's having a cuddle.

Only the tiniest whimper from her at bed time and she soon settled. She's slept all night although I awoke about three o'clock to use the bathroom but that's not unusual for me. Tilly used her kiddies bed mat which we'd placed by her bed on the floor and recommended to us by my good friend Eunice, thanks for that suggestion as they are so much bigger than puppy training pads. Then she slept again until I woke up just after six thirty this morning. She's had some milk for her breakfast and is fast asleep again. There'll be more fun and games today I'm sure.

  1. I'm glad to hear that Tilly spent her first night with you with no problems and it's good to know that you took up my recommendation of the kiddies bed mats, I found them so useful when I was caring for Sophie and so much more economical than proper puppy pads. You're right about needing to paint a white stripe down Tilly's back, it's hard to see which end up she is :) lol. You'll have a lot of fun with her I'm sure, and she looks such an adorable bundle of fluff I want to meet her - now!! :) lol

    1. She's as good as gold and we were sort of expecting her to cry last night but she really surprised us. She's been raised in a home with children and it's obvious she is used to being handled which is what we'd hoped for. The bed mats are great although our Asda didn't have their own brand so we bought Huggies instead but no matter. It's hard to get a decent photo when she's awake as she's a real live wire and doesn't stay still for long. Now where's that pot of white paint? :-)

  2. What a good girl she sounds. You have started so well. With Cassie we said she is staying in her crate at night and that's that. She was on our bed by midnight and she's been there for eight years! I can't wait to see how she grows and progresses!

    1. We're really blessed to have found such a good girl. We've never used a crate for our dogs so expected her to be wandering and crying last night but she's really content to stay in her bed. That made me laugh about Cassie, does sound familiar as my daughter shares her bed with a greyhound or two :)

  3. What a blessed little darling, thank you for this update. I love seeing how you have her on soft, tactile blankies - dogs love the feel of this sort of thing, I think it is very comforting for them.

Hope you have a wonderful first full day with Miss Tilly. 💚 🐾 💚

    1. She’s a little sweetheart Jayne. I removed your quilt from the bed as I didn’t want her chewing it. We bought a cheaper cushion type bed for downstairs and she’s already discovered the corner is nice to chew. She plays with her toys on that bed then wants to be picked up to have a cuddle and then has a nap alongside us on the sofa with a hand on her. I will say this, she has brought laughter back into our lives xx

  6. Clearly Tilly is very wise and knows she has found a wonderful home with you.
Yes, you do have to mind with small black dogs. My old Patterdale was almost squashed on more than one occasion for appearing very much like a cushion on the sofa. X

    1. Tilly is taking full advantage in her new home by demanding cuddles :) We're scared of treading on her as we're never quite sure where she is unless she's sitting next to us on the sofa. We have to lift her up as she's not big enough to get on the sofa by herself yet xx
