Temperature

I'm keeping an eye on the temperature. Not the outside temperature as I'm staying indoors for the foreseeable future although as it's so nice outside I could sit out in my garden if I wanted to. Do you like how I've personalised my alert card with magnets on the fridge door?

I have to take my temperature twice a day and I'm convinced the thermometer, the one on the right given to me by the hospital does not work correctly and doesn't beep as it should do.

So I bought this forehead thermometer online and thankfully it arrived quite quickly and is so easy to use. If something needs doing it needs doing well.

I've had a shielding letter from my doctor's surgery today as I'm now classed as an extremely vulnerable person and the latest advice is to shield until mid-August.

Talking of temperature, hubby is about to bring me a nice ice-cream :)

  1. Nothing wrong with having a back-up, better to be safe than sorry. I'm sure you'll sail through your treatment.

    1. I feel happier having a back-up. My temperature seemed to be low with no shivers so am convinced the hospital thermometer is not accurate. I hope I can get through this treatment with no problems.
I hope your Dad is OK, I'm thinking of you xx

  2. Glad you got one of the forehead thermometers. They are what are used (here anyway), to enter medical places, so it seems, they are the best. And you certainly want the best and most accurate.

    Ice cream cone sounds wonderful!

Yesterday, I made the 2nd Rhubarb Pie. It looks beeeeeautiful. But!!!! It is tart! "Oh bother" as Pooh says...

Seems I put too much rhubarb in, for the usual amount of 1 cup of sugar. So he will sprinkle sugar over it! -grin- And he eats it, with Vanilla Ice Cream, which helps.

With luck, more rhubarb will grow, and I will try-try-again!!!!!!! -smile-

I have enough cut rhubarb in the refrigerator, to make a Gluten Free Crisp today. Which I can eat. For years and years, I have not been able to eat Gluten, so have not had anything made with flour, for years and years.

But the Crisp recipe, can be made with crushed corn flakes (an American breakfast cereal), in place of the flour , in the Crisp Topping!!!!!

Lots and lots of gentle hugs,

    1. I do like rhubarb, we used to grow it in our last two homes but not here. I like it just stewed served with custard but it does need a fair amount of sugar. I think rhubarb pie and vanilla ice cream sounds delicious.
I m pleased I bought the forehead thermometer, easy to use and more accurate!

  3. I hope you enjoyed your ice cream :) I love rhubarb with custard, or rhubarb crumble but haven't had either for quite a while. I remember when I was a kid I only ever liked red rhubarb, would never eat the green stuff as it didn't look 'right', and even now I prefer red :)

    1. I did enjoy the ice cream Eunice, rum'n'raisin my favourite in a waffle cone, just what the doctor ordered :) I like my rhubarb to be nice and red too, last lot we had was given to us from brother-in-law's garden, a lovely treat.

  4. Glad the new thermometer arrived quickly, unlike our dismal postal service. Seems that you are staying on top of all your restrictions & hopefully August will come around quick enough, but do try & sit out in the garden a bit for a dose of sunshine & a breath of fresh air. Stay safe, take care & huggles from down under.

    1. Not everything arrives quickly here but we make allowances for the sorting office during the pandemic, I was pleased to see the thermometer come quickly though. I do intend to sit out and enjoy the garden this summer, if I'm not outside I'll be sat in the conservatory with my feet up.
      Take care x

You're very efficient Eileen, not only with your fridge magnets (like them btw) but also 'taking the bull by the horns' as it were and getting your own thermometer. Hope you feel okay in yourself and not too fatigued. Sending hugs 🤗

    1. It wasn't worth bothering the hospital for a replacement thermometer and knowing my luck that one may have fallen from my mouth as keeping quiet for two or three minutes is a big ask for me :) I did feel rather weary by the weekend but it's only to be expected I suppose, there's no pressure for me to do anything so I can rest when I need to. Thank you for the hugs x

  6. It's definitely worth buying a new thermometer if it gives you peace of mind. I hope you are feeling rested and that you enjoyed your ice cream :) X
